We started our next in-class project. With this project I'm going to try really hard to loosen up and not focus on trying to make things look super realistic. I usually get stuck on trying to get all the small details from the photograph right on the painting, so to prevent that I am going to only look at the photo once for 5 seconds at the beginning of each class, and then paint from the memory of the photograph and also from the memory of the place. I took the photograph in Sweden, and I am going to try to picture it from my memory to really capture the scene.
This is our last week to work on our home projects. I'm pretty happy with the way this painting turned out. I think it is an interesting alternative to the paintings I usually do. I've learned from doing this painting that I need to work on loosening my brushstroke, adding more colors, and finding a light source in my future projects.
