Since we've been learning about and creating our own sculptures in class and at home, I decided to research some sculptors. I came across Michael Ulman. I was drawn to his work because he does a lot of sculptures of cars out of found objects, which was exactly what I was planning to do for my home sculpture project!! He also does motorcycles and other vehicles. His challenge is to make sculptures that evoke the sound, movement, and raw power of the vehicles. He uses objects from dumpsters, junkyards, trash heaps, flea markets, etc. The car above was built with parts of a mailbox. I think it is so amazing that he can make such great sculptures from things other people would consider trash. He is definitely an inspiration to me as I am working on my home project.
